Mr. Bashiru Temitayo Oseni-Ope, Reg. Stat., DFRA, FAVM


Mathematician, Statistician, Indigenous Historian all rolled into one, Oseni-Ope is the current Director of the Lagos Bureau of Statistics, (LBS) Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget.

He is an indigenous Lagosian of Lagos Island-Epetedo- extraction.
Mr. Temitayo, as he is popularly known, attended the Jamma-At-Ul Islamiyya Primary School Ebute Elefun(1973-1978), Eko Boys’ High School, Mushin, Lagos, for his School Certificate O/Level which he obtained in June 1983 while his Higher School Certificate/A Level obtained in June 1985 was at Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos.
His quest for knowledge thereafter took him to the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Mathematics/Statistics in October 1990.This was fittingly capped with a Diploma in Management of the same institution in October 1992.

 ‘Tayo who joined the service of the State Government with effect from. September 1, 1992 as Medical Statistical Officer II, GL.08. He was a Demonstrator in Pure Mathematics, Statistics and related courses in the Department of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the Lagos State University, Ojo, Lagos.

Since his appointment into the Public Service of Lagos State Government, Oseni-Ope whose appointment was confirmed with effect from September 1, 1994, has rose steadily through the ranks, worked at various Ministries, Departments & Agencies spanning over 3 decades.

A thorough bred professional who has attended more than 40 professional in-service training courses and various workshop/seminars both local and international.

In the course of his career has also been Members of more than 10 High-Level Committees on different aspects of governance in the State.

Tayo is a Registered Statistician (CISON). Professional Member of the Institute of Information Management-Africa, Fellow, The Institute of Management Consultants IMC – Nigeria and Certified Management Consultant, Distinguished Fellow (International Association of Research Scholars and Administrators – IARSA) & 2nd Vice President, Governing Council of IARSA, pioneer President/Chairman, Governing Council, IARSA Nigeria, Africa and Executive Director (IARSA) He had obtained various Awards of Excellence.

He is also Members of many voluntary organizations. Tayo is particularly interested among others, in Conflict and Resolution Studies, Demography, Philosophy and History of the Yoruba, African Traditional Religion, Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Development. 

He is married with children while his hobbies include Travelling/Tourism, Reading & Table Tennis.
